In 1434, Amédée VIII, first Duke of Savoy and future pope, built the Castle, which then counted 7 turns, of which there remain only 4 today. Though conceived like a religious retirement for large lords, Ripaille was in the center of the very brilliant civilization which Savoy of this time knew, then an important European state. In particular of famous writers, musicians and miniaturists met there princes, kings and even an emperor, being restored with the succulent receipts of Chiquart Master, cook of Amédée VIII, and drinking wine of Feast already. After the French revolution, the unit was sold to the General Deceived, originating in Evian, which put back Napoleonean wars there.
